Turning Back

Now will I go forth true, leaving all the lies
Could anything be more urgent so, to live free
Bondage as a slave whose master breaks his back
This I say truly: whether dark day or sunrise
I will no longer perverse (my heart's decree)
Though the Spirit's power in pledge I lack
Submit I do, as a lover to his cherished arise
Laying down to die then so arise in zeal for Thee
Returning home and from this world...turning back

The Son of Man

Eternal Father ever intending
With His Son so condescending
To come to earth and start amending
Sadness, misery and grief

The Son of Man He ever teaching
To heal and help He ever reaching
Through the streets He ever preaching
God's Kingdom, repentance, belief

Pilate and Herod ever hauranging
With hammer-spike they ever banging
While in the rain was naked hanging
Giving ransom, rescue, relief

Child of Winter

Slow her heart begins a-failing
This virgin in a cave a-wailing
While all the earth is now trevailing
With darkness taking flight

Child of winter now a-crying
Wild angels in the sky a-flying
While all the earth is now replying
Redemption now in sight

Simple sheperds now a-stringing
All the wisemen gifts a-bringing
While all the earth is now a-singing
Peace on earth tonight

Child of winter now a-standing
With scepter-crown is now commanding
While all the earth is now demanding
All must take delight

From the Ashes

Face down in the embers of ruin
Laid waste in utter defeat
A corpse that is ready for view'n
Consumed by the fire and heat

The night gives only a spark
Of life that now remains
All that was now dark
The power of the night now reigns

Wait....

She comes on the wings of healing
Hope now treading the dawn
With grace and word now wheeling
Both night and darkness withdrawn

(To be completed later)....

Thinking of You

When storm clouds gather in strength
and midnight swallows the day
When days grow longer in length
and we do not know how to pray

When skies are a thickened brass
and the doors of heaven are shut
When the aching refuses to pass
and each memory a razor's cut

Numb as your senses grow cold
Another note to endure
A prayer or hand to hold
offering victory, hope or cure

My friend I have not a clue
of the strain, the hurt or the stress
and all that you've been through
To try to make sense of this mess

Though there's no sheep in the stall
and there be no fruit on the vine
We wait for His grace to fall
and rays of hope to shine

Her Lavishing Way

Love's so-lavishing way has kissed me true
With her lips ever softly touching my
Cold cheek, and my red-so-sorrowful eye
Her breathing, her lips of loving, they ever pursue
My lowered-so-lamenting eyes and they subdue
Each falling thought and tear; till they comply
To whispers of Her sure and sweet song. My reply,
Of lifted eye and lip I now embrace and renew.

Standing On My Tiptoes

This wanting beyond to simply know
An eager upon eager desire
To question these feelings of wonder
Hunting down these rumors of a Glorious One
Leaving no stone unturned til I embrace This Beautiful God
Hot on the trail of He who is hot on the trail for....Me?
Peering into every corner and hole into this great Mystery
Following the scent of the One who is to be savored
To dive and delve into the depths of He who has no ceiling or bottom
I will watch and wait for His coming
With a breathless expectation
Standing on my tiptoes waiting for He Who is Ablaze...Aflame...
